5 Things This Wrench Does That Your Ratchet Can't

"You could see the bolt. You could touch it. You just couldn't get anything onto it. Here's what a chain-driven bar does differently."

1. It puts your hand where there's room

A ratchet turns your arm, and behind a firewall your arm gets about an inch. Turn, reset. Turn, reset.

KnuckleReach is a rigid bar 15 inches long. You work the ratchet at one end, out in the open where there's light and space. The socket end sits on the bolt and needs no swing room at all.

2. It stays square on the bolt

2. It stays square on the bolt

A U-joint turns at an angle, so it pushes sideways the whole time. It folds, then walks off the head. That's how a good bolt gets rounded.

This has no joint to fold. The body is one rigid piece, so the socket sits square from the first turn to the last, no side load, ever.

3. It goes in flat instead of tall

3. It goes in flat instead of tall

Swivels and wobbles solve the angle by getting taller. Fine until the bolt is at the bottom of a hole then it's not that it won't turn, it's that it won't go in.

A flat bar 0.7 inches thick slides into the gap instead of stacking up out of it. Same reach, a fraction of the height.

4. It turns both ways, 1:1

Anything "flexible" loses something at every joint and most of them only really work in one direction.

Inside the bar is a sealed steel roller chain running between two sprockets the same drive that puts engine power to a motorcycle's rear wheel. What you put in at the handle comes out at the socket: 1:1, tightening and loosening. Nothing lost to flex.

5. It tells you what it's rated for

Look at the cheap ones online. Nowhere on the box, the listing or the back of the tool will you find what the chain inside is rated to hold.

A chain that isn't rated stretches first, then lets go. So here's ours, printed where you can go read it right now:
